Abstraksi:Abstract Shome, Ratan, and Bhardwaj (1997) posited that organizations unavoidably encounter conflict among their employees. Conflict within the workplace is costly to both the organization and to the individual members of the conflict. Understanding the basis for strife is essential to resolving the conflict (Fisher, 2006; Mayer, 2000). From an Adierian perspective, one feasible source of strife may be the collision of individual lifestyles. Knowing the lifestyle attributes of an organization's personnel can serve both as a measure to prevent disputes and as a method for mitigating conflict in the workplace. Presented in this article is an example of lifestyle collision and a discussion of the use of the BASIS-A Inventory (Wheeler, Kern, & Curlette, 1993) in working through conflict that may arise because of lifestyle collision.
