Abstraksi | : | Abstract Alfred Adler originally worked with early memories to assess changes in perceptions and growth in healthy functioning. More recently, therapists have used early memories as part of a therapeutic treatment plan to modify a client's beliefs or lifestyle convictions. Based on the assumption that early memories are more relevant to the present than the past, the authors examine how Adier's work with early memories can be used to focus on a client's presenting issues by using current-day reconstructions. This use is illustrated in the context of treating clients who present with eating disorders. The authors review case examples to demonstrate how practitioners can apply this approach to facilitate recovery from an eating disorder. |
