Abstraksi:This article presents two studies describing the development and initial psychometric analyses of the 10 “clinical” scales of the Ausburg Multidimensional Personality Instrument (AMPI). The AMPI scales are intended for lab assignments so undergraduate students might better understand the process of administering and interpreting psychological tests with domains similar to the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). The AMPI was developed using real data so it could serve as both a teaching and research instrument. Study 1 found that the scales possessed adequate internal consistency and were correlated in patterns similar to those of the MMPI-2. Study 2 demonstrated initial factorial validity for each of the 10 scales. The results, suggestions for future research, and potential uses of the AMPI are discussed.
