Abstraksi:Abstract Conceptualizing pain as both physical and emotional is a holistic perspective that is consistent with Individual Psychology, Adler wrote that bodily functions express and disclose an individual's emotional state and referred to this language as "organ dialect" or "organ jargon" (Ansbacher & Ansbacher, 1956), Because doctors of chiropractic medicine are recognized as professionals with holistic roots who treat physical pain, the authors, a chiropractor and a psychologist, examined the referral practices of chiropractors when they suspect the presence of emotional pain in their patients. There was a significant difference in the percentage of chiropractic patients following through on a mental health referral when the chiropractor took a proactive approach rather than using an educational intervention alone.
