Abstraksi:Abstract The Project for the Empowerment of South African Counselors (PESAC) is a program designed to assist counselors to address the many challenges which followed the apartheid government. Individual Psychology provided the theory, knowledge, and skills necessary for the design of effective training. Individual Psychology was found to resonate with the traditional worldview in South Africa. The authors discuss two major projects: a needs assessment completed to determine what training counselors required and the development of a Life Skills Counseling and Education Program. Given the history of apartheid, it was important that these projects provided encouragement and a sense o? belonging to both stakeholders and the counselors trained by the project.
