| Abstraksi | : | In this article I review three constructs: loneliness, solitude, and belonging. One that is unwanted and painful but is experienced by all humans occasionally, one that is helpñil and growth promoting and is not necessarily so common, and belonging which is sought after by all of us. This article is a review of some of the available literature on loneliness, solitude and belonging, as the first two are quite rampant in our society, while the third is a most basic htmian need. Loneliness and how it affects us, the need to learn to accept and grow from solitude, and the 'ingredients' of belonging, its importance, how it affects health and what psychology can do to help, are outlined. |
