| Abstraksi | : | At the dawn of the 21st century, the global village is changing, and with it are the family composition, dynamics, and structure. Families, which used to be throughout the generations a fixed and stable entity, have become varied and are continuously changing. We have now ‘regular’ families, single parent families, same sex families and reconstructed families, to name just a few. Common wisdom, as well as research indicates that a home is one’s castle and safety harbour. However, such varied and, at times, fragmented families have been shown to not only not alleviate people’s loneliness but to even deepen it. Children, who were thought in the past to not experience loneliness, actually do, and when the family is not a rock of support and comfort, may struggle with it to a larger extent than children in past generations. |
