Abstraksi:Abstract When narrating early recollections as a projective technique, individuals frequently make reference to material objects. As a projective hypothesis, it is possible that objects in first memories relate to personality functioning. In various remembrances, objects are prominent and evoke emotional reactions as persons attend to their distinctive features. With other early memory accountings, however, objects seem to be of a secondary or incidental quality and lack the salience of interpretive dimensions. From a counseling perspective, evaluating the meaning of objects in early recollections has the potential to promote empathie understanding. Object meanings may stimulate directions for environmental accommodations or clarify dysfunctional convictions within a client's lifestyle. Some individuals appear to have an orientation toward objects which they often find captivating and life-enhancing.
