Abstraksi:Embodying both the promises and perils of our collective past and the dreams and dangers of global connectedness, the study of crowds, clouds, and community includes assumptions about central communication processes: organizing, socializing, and mediatizing. Across International Communication Association Divisions and Interest Groups we have a rich heritage of studies engaging these classical ideas and all 3 terms continue to be featured prominently in contemporary communication scholarship. This article considers the theoretical and practical ways in which our evolving conceptions and experiences of clouds, crowds, and community are challenging the communication discipline.
