Abstraksi:Andragogy, a theory of learning primarily used for adults, has a long history of instructional use and controversy. This instructional method was used for a graduate level assessment and psychopathology course in social work to enhance the learner’s ability to acquire and retain knowledge. The instructor, in collaboration with students, formulated the learning climate and instructional strategies/leaming activities based on andragogy. The climate and activities were later evaluated by students in the course through qualitative and quantitative measures in order to assess the impact that this method had on their instruction. The similarities between andragogy and social work practice helped to advance the adult learners down the path of learning that was best suited to the individuals. Andragogy can help adult learners acquire new knowledge in a way that makes sense to the learner and their unique learning strategy.
