| Abstraksi | : | Teachers come into the classroom poorly equipped for their profession. Teacher preparation programs often omit even basic psychology about discipline, motivation, and purposive behavior. While teachers are increasingly held accountable for the achievement and behavior of their students, they are handicapped by this lack of knowledge and skills. Individual Psychology consultation can remediate these challenges. When counselors meet with teachers about students, consultation occurs. After making the case for consultation, attention in this article shifts to providing a practical model for it based upon Adler's Individual Psychology. The modell presented includes discussion regarding teacher beliefs and skills, topics for successful in-service programs, and suggestions for changes that would improve the effectiveness of consultation. Effective Adierian consultation is then demonstrated through an instructional case study. |
