| Abstraksi | : | Abstract Young children experience life altering traumatic events every day in our society. It is essential that mental health professionals have appropriate training and experience viiorking with young children. Play therapy is an empirically validated and developmentally appropriate intervention for young children. This case study provides an example of posttraumatic play in the four phases of Adierian play therapy. Adierian play therapy afforded this child the opportunity to express fully and gain mastery over his experience. Through play and the therapeutic relationship Steven gained understanding of himself and his experience. This case demonstrates the importance of allowing children to use play and symbol to gain insight and understanding to establish social interest and a sense of belonging. |
