| Abstraksi | : | Abstract Survivors of sexual abuse and assault face significant social, emotional, and physical ripples from the trauma they have experienced. Not every survivor responds with devastating symptomology or chronic life maladjustment. Adierian art therapy offers the benefits of a holistic approach to healing as it accounts for the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social components of life. Art making and art therapy elicit a nonverbal, sensorial, symbolic, and kinesthetic therapeutic process: elements that are often negatively affected by trauma. Adierian art therapy provides a transitional, nonevasive, safe space for the projection of the lifestyle and the relational impact caused by sexual abuse and assault. |
