Abstraksi:Abstract The authors present information regarding the development and uses of a brief measure of coping resources that could complement the practitioner's options during the reorientation stage of the therapeutic process. The Coping Resources Inventory for Stress-Short Form (CRIS-SF) is a 70-item measure based on its parent instrument, the Coping Resources Inventory for Stress (CRIS). The CRIS-SF has been designed to be a research and clinical instrument for Identifying strengths and weaknesses ¡n stress coping resources which can be related to a client's lifestyle. The CRIS-SF yields a total coping resource effectiveness score (CRE-SF) and scores from six primary scales that measure significant dimensions of positive coping resources. Each primary scale has two subscales that define the primary scale with greater specificity. The median correlation of the six CRIS-SF primary scales with the scales having the same names on the CRIS is estimated to be .95. All scales and subscales were derived from factor analysis and have good internal consistency reliabilities (values ranged from .78 to .93). Early evidence of its validity include studies relating the CRIS-SF to depression, anxiety, self-efficacy, self-mastery, feminine gender role, neuroticism and other personality traits, aggression toward intimate partners, working relationships with clients and supervisors, and optimism.
